Resumen

Debido a que la esperanza de vida de los pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica era muy corta antes del advenimiento de la hemodiálisis, la secuela de la destrucción progresiva de las nefronas no se había estudiado con seriedad. Ya que estos pacientes en la actualidad se mantienen con diálisis O transplante renal, es importante identificar y resolver en forma temprana los problemas de manejo crónico, entre éstos la osteodistrofia renal, con el fin de disminuir las complicaciones proporcionando de esta manera una mejor calidad de vida para estos pacientes, por lo cual hemos hecho una revisión de la literatura sobre el tema en los últimos 4 años.
