Resumen
El análisis de las células endoteliales proporciona información clínica importante sobre la función y viabilidad corneal. La determinación de la densidad celular endotelial ha llegado a ser una práctica aceptada para proporcionar información sobre la densidad celular necesaria para mantener la transparencia corneal. Cuando se realizan procedimientos intraoculares, el trauma endotelial debe ser minimizado, y la microscopía especular es reconocida como esencial al valorar la seguridad de nuevos procedimientos intraoculares y proporciona una evaluación precisa de los posibles factores de riesgo involucrados en la cirugía de catarata.
