En las unidades de cuidados intensivos, una de las infecciones que se presentan con más frecuencia es la neumonía hospitalaria, segunda causa de infección nosocomial en hospitales, y primera causa de muerte por infecciones intrahospitalarias. Existe poca información sobre los agentes causales y el mecanismo de transmisión.
