Abordaje sistematizado de la válvula nasal

Resumen
La válvula nasal es el principal regulador del flujo de aire a través de las fosas nasales y, cuando se ve afectado, su funcio- namiento causa frecuentemente obstrucción nasal. A pesar de esto juega un papel poco reconocido y mal manejado por el médico. Este trabajo presenta un análisis de la anatomía y fi- siología de la válvula nasal y clasifica los diferentes factores etiológicos de la disfunción valvular en cuatro grupos: altera- ciones septales, alteraciones de los cartílagos laterales superio- res, alteraciones mucocutáneas y varios. Se propone un abor- daje sistematizado para la detección de la alteración específica que afecta al funcionamiento valvular, así como el manejo qui- rúrgico considerado más adecuado para resolver cada caso.
